Hello all,
I am new to the forum so I apologize if this is in the wrong place. Also, I know this question has been posed in several places on the internet, but I could not find a solid answer.
I am a "systems admin" in an all Windows 2000/XP environment. I have been looking in to FOSS for quite some time now, reading the articles and case studies, reading up on software, etc.
I have considered taking a proposal to the IS Director about slowly rolling out OpenOffice throughout the company (only about 60 computers). However, the Director has been looking at implementing Outlook 2007. A big part of this is based on the new document formatting, and he wants our sales/cust svc/directors to be able to read the new file formats available in Office 2007. Is there any feasible option to making OO compatible with these Microsoft Office XML files in a Windows XP/2000 environment?
Thank you
Edit;: I should also note that for some reason we cannot get volume licensing and I was told that purchasing Office 2007 for my company will cost around $15,000 this year. I don't believe this was an exaggeration, but I could be wrong. |
