|
|
Whenever I ask OO Writer to spell check a document, it immediately crashes the programe causing it to quit. I think this might be related to when I attempted to change the language settings from American English to UK English when I first installed OO. I recently updated by downloading the recent OO 2.2.1, and the same problem is still occuring.
Any step by step help to fix this would be appreciated. |

You may have to try renaming your user settings folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAMEHERE\Application Data\OpenOffice.org2
So your changes will be updated. In other words, the changes you talk about from American English to UK English (some would say "the change from Wrong English to Correct English" may not be taking because of some small thing going on in this stored data.
I believe this will recreate itself at your next startup if it is not present. If not you should be able to rename the folder back to put it back where you started if it doesn't do any good. _________________ Ron from Iowa, USA |

There have been some problems with the UK dictionary file but it has been fixed some weeks ago. Are you sure it's the latest version of the spell checker ? Try to install it again through the wizard. But it should be the right version delivered with the 2.2.1 download. But perhaps you've kept an old version ? _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |

Perhaps it's a new feature--aversion therapy--motivates you to spell things correctly in the first place! |
