|
|
When I tried to install the OO 2.2 I ran into a error saying Error 1304. Error writing to file policy.1.0.cli_cpphelper.dll . I'm a tech and have tried these avenues already
- deleting oo folder
- searching in regedit for name to delete (maybe had perrmission problem from prior oo installation)
- Searched the whole drive for policy.1.0.cli_cppuhelper.dll (only found the name policy under java directory)
- redownloaded OO 2.2
- removing everything and downloaded older versions.
- made exception to mentioned file in antivirus. (antivirus cannot be paused or turned off only removed)
- I read about the .net framework being the problem. removed and reinstalled
- and last be not least deleted my profile 100% and started anew. and yes profile has administrator rights. I even went to adminstrator profile and tried everything above mentioned.
I'll been at it for about 2 weeks and don't seem to get anywhere. the file is included in openofficeorg3 cab folder. also I did a search on the forums and got 8000 results but the first two listings did not mention what I was looking for. |

Why is it after I ask for help I always find the solution? Well here's what I did and really I didn't think it would work...
extract the policy.1.0.cli_cpphelper.dll file from the openofficeorg3 cab and paste it into system32 folder. It installed and works good so far with no errors.
I hope this helps some people who has the same problem |

| I tried extracting the specified dll into system32, retried the install and still get the same error. In addition I tried granting access to myself to the Templates directory using XCACLS and neither of these things have worked. Displaying the properties for the directory under Security shows that I have Full Control as well as all the other permissions except Special. Any other suggestions out there? |

same trouble (error 1304...)
couldnt install OOo 2.2.0 on XP (SP2 and SP3)
I tried to install .NET Framework 2.0 because cli_cppuhelper problem seems to have something to do with .NET.
it's OK : OOo installed succesfully ! |

I was using XP SP 2 at the time. After seeing your post I installed .NET framework 3 and a service pack for it. I still get the same Error 1304 telling me I can't write to the All Users Templates directory to create soffice.odg. I have not yet gone to XP SP 3. Also, I downloaded and used the latest Open Office, 2.4.0 rather than the 2.3.0 I had been using.
Thanks for your reply, though. |
