I've looked at the Helps - which show 2 ways to rotate pictures or objects in Writer - both of which are greyed-out in my 2.2 Linux install.

This is in PCLinuxOS. I'm dual-booting with 98SE, and have OOo-2.2 in 98SE - and Rotate - both ways - works just-fine in the said 98SE. So I do know how to do it...!

Any ideas, please, kind souls, why it doesn't work in Linux?

Regards, Dave.

To rotate a picture, you've to paste it (or directly open it) in Draw and then paste it in Writer. It is then considered as a Draw object (a geometrical shape) and you can rotate it afterwards.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' in your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

As far as I know, you cannot rotate pictures and objects in Writer unless they are pasted from Draw. Perhaps that is the problem. Are you inserting the pictures from File? I can only test on Windows.

Same under Linux. The pic has to come from Draw.

Thanks, All - I was so used to doing it in Word that I was sure Writer would have a way to do it. There again - Office-9 / 2000 sure doesn't have OpenDraw2! love the layers!

Those using Linux will find that Kim, if installed, has, on right-click, a "Rotate" function - the "Custom" allows rotation per degree. Enter a "minus" to rotate anti-clockwise. If you have several pix to reset to a precise angle, it's quite useful.

Regards, Dave.
