I'm running Vista Home Prem on a brand new laptop.
I installed OO this morning and found my way to a application, since no shortcuts were created that I could find. Upon opening, I got the license acceptance screen, but the only available option is Decline--Accept is grayed out!
I ran the repair program, which seems to have created a word processing shortcut in my start list, but the same problem remains.
This is a rather discouraging way to start. Any ideas? |

I'm not sure about the shortcuts, I would expect OOo to at least appear in the Vista equivalent of the "Start" menu, but the license dialog is easy to "fix": in trying to be clever, the dialog requires that you at least scroll all the way to the end of the license text before the "Accept" option becomes active. I'm sure this tweak has drastically increased the percentage of people who actually read the license, so it's probably a good thing and not just another confusing annoyance. Be happy |

You must page down the entire license text to activate the Accept button.
If you run the installer as administrator, it makes the proper shortcuts to the apps. At least that's my experience. (Right click on the install icon and select "Run as administrator".) |
