| Maybe I'm not very clever at using Help, but I can't work out how to apply keyboard shortcuts to macros. MS Word gives you the option of setting up a keyboard shortcut when you record a macro. It seems in OO you record the macro first and then assign a keyboard shortcut to it - but so far I haven't worked out how to do this. |

choose the User option
look for
Macro Library How-To

| I had a look at the document you refer to, and it does have a description of how to assign a macro to a toolbar button, but it does not have anything about keyboard shortcuts. So I'm afraid my problem is still unsolved. |

Once you have recorded your macro, go to Tools -> Configure -> keyboard tab
Under Category, search OpenOffice.org and inside it, Standard: here is your macro. Assign the keyboard shortcut you like. |

Thanks, that is useful. I can now assign a macro to a keyboard shortcut from the list in the window which appears when I open up the menu you recommend.
I would like to go one step further and be able to assign combinations such as ALT-A, etc, to macros, as I use macros frequently and equally frequently change them - to have letters as reference points is useful. However, such combinations do not appear in the list in the menu.
Is it possible to do this? |

That's an excellent resource! Thanks very much for posting it, jabber. Besides showing what keyboard shortcuts are already in use in each program, you can also deduce the key combinations that are still available for custom use. However, I don't see OpenOffice modules or OpenOffice listed there yet. I've submitted a request, as I'm sure many others have done. _________________ Cheers!
