|

I'm typing my notes in class today and everytime I hit alt+i+o+f (insert formula) is takes > 30 seconds to open the formula box at the bottom. With 2.2.1 and earlier this was <3 seconds. Any ideas? I just upgraded to 2.3 yesterday. I'm running Windows XP on my laptop, nothing else running, and everything else responds quickly.

Quite difficult to investigate. Opens in less than 3 seconds also on XP 2.26 GHz, 256 RAM. _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |

| Maybe this is a more general question, but when I downloaded OOo, I didn't download it with the JRE because I already have the latest one on my machine. OOo should automatically use the latest Java, correct? That wouldn't be slowing me down would it? |

| I have the same experience, my document with 100+ formulas makes the v 2.3 Writer freeze or give a very slow response. The 2.2.1 version works OK. (Windows XP) |

Is the Java version set in the Tools>Options>OOo>Java configuration pane ? _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |

2.3 is behaving normally for me under that scenario. The formula window is up in just a second or two. I'm running Fedora Linux.
I don't think Java has any part in the formula editing--but who knows? |

I'm experiencing the same problem on Win32 XP SP2. Enabling or disabling JRE doesn't seam to change something.
Any ideas? |

XP Pro SP2 on an AMD64 3200 with 2GB of RAM, and I can't even count to 1 before alt-i-o-f brings up the formula box for me in 2.3 _________________ Noho ora mai, ka kite ano.

I believe this refers to an empty document. I'm using Intel Core 2 Duo Centrino (T7200 - laptop) with 2GB of RAM. Indeed, the formula box opens in a second in empty document. In a 10 page document with around 20 formulas and 11 figures it takes 10 to 30 seconds to open formula box. This didn't happen in OOo 2.2.1. |

| Do the developers know this? Is this a tradeoff or a bug? Because It's important for me. I have LOTS of notes with 100+ formulas and I'm going to start my dissertation soon, which is guaranteed to have 100+. Anyone know the process from here? |

Ok, I see it now as well. A Writer document with lots of formulas is very slow to load (open) and very slow to open the Math editor, compared to 2.2.1.
Definitely should be reported.
There's a good test document attached to Issue 72777: math_cheatsheet.odt is a 2-page document with ~120 formulas. With that document loaded, OOo 2.3 takes about 8 s to get a new formula editing window, where 2.2.1 takes <1s. |

I experience the same problem after the upgrade form OO 2.2 to OO 2.3. The formula editor expend a lot of time to open when I try to edit a formula. Either, all the Writer is very slowly, in a text with many formulas and objects. This didn't happen yesterday when I was typing in the OO 2.2. I tried to change the parameters in Tools - Option - Memory, but was effectless. I'm using a XP Home SP2 on a Athlon64 3200+ 2 GB Ram
Some help, to solve the case?
Cirilo. |

As you can see, it seems to be a bug linked to this last version.
Either you downgrade to 2.2.1 or you file the bug report, vote for it and wait for its resolution. _________________ Now on the EN user community forum |
