|

Hi all,
I'm new to OO but am keen to have it replace an existing Excel reporting system. I have Ingres II r3 installed on Linux and would like to use OO (Base, Calc) also on Linux to replace the current reports running under Win 2000.
I've installed the latest OO release OK.
I've configured both odbc and jdbc data sources in Base which test OK
..... but I can't get either to successfully return data into Calc.
Quite frustrating.
odbc returns data into Base OK, and some data into Calc .... but leaves date fields blank.
jdbc tests OK in Base ... but crashes Base when attempting to return any data.
I'm also chasing this in Ingres forums, but would like to know if anyone is successfully using OO with Ingres data sources. A quick search of the forum seems to suggest that this is not the case .... but thought I'd ask the question anyway.
Here's hoping,

Hello,
You're not alone to try using OO with Ingres. In my case i did some tests with OO 2.1 to OO 2.3, each time with Ingres2006 (the next R3).
In all cases I fall on the same issues you fall. For ODBC, if OO Base present me a table list, it is impossible to update data : this is due to the lake of Update ODBC Driver in Ingres distribution.
When I connect with JDBC, I can't see my table list but I'm able to run queries.
And, important to note, all my Ingres versions work well in Java environment (with DB Visualizer [http://www.dbvis.com/products/dbvis/] for example).
Sure this is not helping you, but keep in mind we are 2 now
Regards,
Jean-Pierre |

Jean-Pierre,
Thanks for the reply. I haven't been actively pursuing this since my earlier disappointment, but will undoubtedly look into it further over the next few months. Good to know I'm not alone. If you have success in the future, please post another reply.
Thanks,
