First of all, I just joined the OpenOffice community and I'm realy excited about it. I've been wanting to dump MS Word for a while, and it made me so mad tonight when trying to write a paper I finally downloaded OpenOffice. I hate that Bill Gates thinks he knows how I want my word processing to occur...he doesn't, and I'm constantly fighting Word's supposed "intelligence."

Whew.

OK, I made a table with the +-------+--------+------+ automatic thing (how neat). When I typed a in the first cell and tabbed to the next cell, it made the a into A (which I don't want). How can I stop this autoformatting?

Thanks
Jim

Glad that you have actually given OOo a try.

Your solution:-

Tools-AutoCorrect/AutoFormat... Options Tab, unchecked the ticks for 'Capitalized first letter of every sentence'

Note: you will lose this feature across OOo Writer, be it in or out of a table. Sad

Good luck.

cwchia,
I don't understand what you mean by:

Note: you will lose this feature across OOo Writer, be it in or out of a table.

If I may,,,

What cwchia means (correct me if necessary Wink) is that the setting isn't specific to the table you're working on, it's a program-wide setting.

i.e. if you switch off 'Capitalized first letter of every sentence' then the first letter of every sentence (in or out of a table) will NOT be capitalized anywhere in Writer.

Is that clearer Confused
