I have certain columns, but not all columns, in a spreadsheet that I don't want to allow modification. I have protected those columns and have protected the sheet, but am not able to sort the data in the sheet.
Is it possible to protect certain columns and still allow sorting? |

| I've never found a way. It would be handy, and so would filtering of protected cells. |

Sorting is a form of modification. If sorting was allowed, the user could sort on a column other than the one you choose. It seems you can't have your cake and eat it.

Hi,
You may copy the zone of cells you are interested in, then go to another (empty) sheet and Paste special. It allows you to paste numbers instead of formulas.
Now you can sort the result as you want.
