|
|
I have just spent almost two hours of my working day (and wasted probably 50 sheets of paper) trying to persuade Calc to print one page of information...
The original Excel file resaved as OOo Calc (with about 7 tabs) opens fine and appears correct in print preview and page break preview. When I ask it to print if prints one line of text from near the bottom of the sheet!
I have checked...
Page and printer set-up
Print range (defined, edited, removed etc)
Text color
When Fit to page is unchecked it prints the whole sheet on four pieces of paper. When I uncheck fit to page and set a scale size of, say, 50% the sheet looks as expected in preview but again prints just one line on paper!
I have copied and pasted all sheets into a new native OOo calc file and it does exactly the same thing.
Help! - If I have another day like today Excel will be re-installed |

Hello again Paul,
I can't think of anything off the top of my head. The previous offer still stands if I can help, same email address as last time

Paul
Sounds strange, but there must be an explanation. What operating system are you using? What version of OOo? What kind of printer is it? Do you have any problems printing to this printer from other applications? Is the printer installed locally or is it on a network? Have you tried printing from another machine or to another printer?
As a workaround, I can suggest you try converting to pdf first, and then print from the pdf format. Although this is less than ideal it has provided me with a quick solution on numerous occasions in the past when struggling with printing problems such as this.
Cheers

James - thanks for the offer but this one contains data covered by the Data Protection Act so I can't send it over. Damn!
Anton - these are the answers...
Windows XP
OOo 1.1.0
Epson Stylus 640
No problems printing with other apps
Its a network printer
Not tried on other printers
I've just rebooted all machines/network and specific printer and get the same result. If I export to PDF the document appears and prints correctly in Acrobat Reader.
Just deleted print range (was set to whole sheet) and document previews as expected but again when I try to print the 7th sheet I just get one line of text!
10 minutes later....
I've found the cause of the problem if not the solution...
Cell A29 is the only cell that is being printed. It contains text that begins as follows...
Notes: The premises have...
The string "Notes:" is in bold.
If I delete the contents of A29 the sheet prints normally!
I've just created a new sheet and entered the same string but it prints normally. I can only assume that there is some sort of corruption in the contents of A29 that is causing this anomaly.
Any suggestions?
TIA |
