2.3 not starting properly in vista?

Hello, a student in my school has installed vista on her computer and I was to install OpenOffice on her machine, however now that it is installed it wont start properly, when its almost completed it stops the progress when the loading picture is completed and then it jams, not doing anything I just have a loading picture in the middle of the screen where nothing happens, does anyone have any suggestions as about what I can do?

that the quickstarter migt be running in the background

try reinstalling , do a custom install and when asked to choose which components to install do NOT choose the quickstarter
