Upgrading to OO 2.3 Breaks Internet Explorer

I have a strange problem trying to upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3. I have used OO 2.2 for a long time on my Win XPsp2 machine. Today, I downloaded OO 2.3 and installed it. Everything appeared to work correctly during installation.

However, after the installation, Microsoft IE (v7) stopped working. I could start IE and my home page would display. However, as soon as I tried to navigate to another site (e.g., my Gmail account or my library account), IE would just close with no error message.

I tried the usual troubleshooting steps, including rebooting, trying to re-install IE 7. No luck. I also looked at the Application and System Event Logs. I didn't find anything related to IE.

I wasn't certain that OO 2.3 was the problem, so I went to System Restore, restored my system to yesterday, made sure that IE worked correctly, and then did the OO 2.3 installation again.

After this, I had exactly the same problem as before. IE just closes when I try to navigate to a web site, with no error message. So I'm pretty sure that the OO 2.3 install is somehow causing the problem.

I tried searching this forum for anything related to this and didn't find anything. Hence this post.

I would really like to upgrade to 2.3, but at this point I'm stuck until I can figure this out. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
