|
|
Just a note for those searching the archives for help with regex:
I've written a HowTo for regular expressions:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/How_Tos/Regular_Expressions_in_Writer
I've ploughed through about 40 issues (an excruciating experience) and have tried to describe OOo regular expressions as they are, rather than as they might be.
Being a wiki, the HowTo is open for anyone to edit and contribute to, if they wish.
I hope it is useful |

Wow! Yes--excellent work.
The only suggestion I have is to add live links for the issues, just to make it a little easier to follow-up there. There is some good background in some of them and people may want to check to see if the status changes.
I like huwg's suggestion of including some "recipes" for common tasks.
Nice! Thanks very much for putting that all together. |

Yes, very nice.
I didn't know line breaks were treated like paragraph breaks for purposes of "^." and ".$" or the like. |

Good that you added the back reference issue in "Replace" box. |

Thank you for the kind words.
I've made the suggested changes (the Calc example will go into the Calc regex HowTo, but that's still a work in progress) |
