Can't save my word docs

For several weeks on an intermittent basis I cannot save a word processing document.

When I hit Save after naming the document nothing happens.

For some strange reason it started working last week but now that I have done the upgrade it is kaput again.

Help, please?

We need more details to help you.

Which version of OpenOffice are you using?
What operating system is it installed on?
What upgrade have you done?

Does this happen especially to large files or files with some special properties?
Does it happen both to new files as well as files that you have opened and changed?
To which file format do you save (.doc, .odt)?
Is no file created at all or an empty file?
