| I've looked all over for the function, but I can't seem to find it. Can someone please direct me as to how to utilize said function? |

In MS Office Word, this tool makes and automatic summary of a selected text.
Just as it name says "autosummarize".
I'm also looking for it.
Thanks in advance |

I think I may have seen it. I don't believe it exists in OOo. Neither can I find it in Word 2007. _________________ jrkrideau

Actually, Open Office Writer DOES have that same "AutoSummarize"
functionality Word uses, but it calls it "AutoAbstract."
Somehow, you can access it via "File" --> "Send" -->"AutoAbstract"
and it creates a new doc with the summary/abstract of what you've had previously.
Problem is: My drop down tab for it is unclickable - greyed, and can't be accessed. So while its there and can be used, I don't see exactly how...yet.
Please post how you get it working if and when you get to try it out and use it!
Thanks,

*AHA!*
All you need to do to get the function "AutoAbstract" (if it's disabled)
is to Go to the top of your page and under Styles (Near Font bar) change it from [Default] to stick in a Type [Heading]. Any type size will do.
It just looks for that syntax for some reason. Without a single heading it won't work.
No big deal.
Cheers,
