| As a teacher, I have started asking students to submit their written assignments to me by email. One thing I really like about Microsoft Word is the comment feature. In Word 2003 I can identify exactly which text I want to comment on because Word highlights the selected text. It also displays the comment in a nice little balloon box in the right hand margin. This is a really slick feature and is so much better than the note feature in OooWriter that it discourages me from recommending OooWriter to students. |

I would suggest giving your comments in a seperate file. As a student I have had some bad experiences with comments given on the file itself. In one case he had destroyed most of my formatting so many of his comments were invalid. _________________ Arch Linux

It's true, the comments in OOo, named 'notes' are not as handy as the ones in Word. I'm having problems with them too now, because OOo just won't read the comments put in by my boss. She's telling me to start using a proper program, but I think OOo is doing just fine for something that's free of charge...
Work to be done!

I have not had that problem but I did make enough suggested changes and comments on a short 2 paragraph piece that it was impossible to tell what was what I like the concept that Adobe and Word have but it is not always that useful in practice. _________________ jrkrideau

The "notes2" feature 6193 is implemented for OOo 3.0 and is ready for testing now. Please try to break it and report any bugs.

mfitch62, I hope you still use OpenOffice.org. This is a bit of an old post, so this reply is mostly "for the record' (such as people searching the archives). _________________ <signature>
