| I read in the FAQ section that more than one person can use the OpenOffice program once installed on a shared computer. However, I am really having a problem. We updated to the latest version and have had a problem since then. Both users were able to use the program on the old version and both of us have administrator capabilities. When I log on and try to use OpenOffice Writer, I get a message that says it's looking for swriter.exe, but it never finds it. When the other person that uses this computer logs on, they are able to use the program without any problem and can also go into all my documents. We have tried re-installing the whole program when I am logged on. I have even tried to select the "repair" option, but with no success. I am at a loss. Operating system is Windows XP. Can you help, please? We are reluctant to uninstall and try again because neither of us wants to lose the documents we've created previously. Thank you. |

| I am not expert on installing OO - I just download and click. But I do not think you will lose your documents - they are stored at a different place. You could save all your documents on a back up and then reinstall. B |

It seems your old file associations remain. You need to remove them or overwrite them. Please try running CCleaner to remove any lingering registry entries. Repeat the process several times in CCleaner to get them all. Then, please write back here to let me know whether that fixed it.
Also, try running OpenOffice.org 2.4 by clicking Start > Programs > OpenOffice.org. _________________ <signature>
