|
|
When I open writer and maximize it to the full screen the print layout page is positioned all the way to the left. Is there a way to center the page in screen. This is very annoying and is stopping me from switching to open office right now because I don't want to be staring at the left of the screen the whole time.
I know I am being picky but it is very annoying.
Thanks |

If you set the zoom to page width or optimal then your document will fill the page width. That does centre the document in the sense of not just using the left hand side of the page.
I'm not sure that is really what you want though, if you want the 100% view centred I don't know how that could be done. |

A lot of Word Users complain about this issue, but it doesn't bother me since I'm more likely to use Wordpad or other programs than I am to use Word. It is just a question of learning to lay out Open Office the way that you find comfortable, and not expecting it to be a certain way that you're used to. It is well worth while spending a few hours customising the menus, toolbars, keyboard, and options.
Dock the stylelist (F11) and navigation palette (F5) on the right (Control double-click on the palette border), and zoom to optimal. _________________ Fonts * Opera * Oo Tips * FAQ * New Forum

How do I get the navigation palate to dock on the right? I was docking it on the left but could not get it to dock on the right. Now I seem to have hit some kind of toggle and I can only dock it under the top menu bars. . I know it is something simple but I cannot seem to find it. _________________ jrkrideau

You must have hit F4 instead of F5. The palette under the menu/toolbars is the Data sources palette. Just drag the style list palette (F11) and/or the Navigator Palette (F5) to the right side after docking them on the left. You can place either one on top, or both side by side, or one on the left, one on the right.
If you like it: vote for this issue: Style List Toggle _________________ Fonts * Opera * Oo Tips * FAQ * New Forum
