New skin for OOo ?

Hi all,
i love OOo (especially with the dmath plugin), i use it quiet every day (i'm a mathematic teacher in france), but since word 2003 i think OOo skin is a stick-in-the-mud.
I really think that its one of the most reason why people prefer working on word (or why people prefer using windows vista instead of linux).
Does anybody knows if OOo will let users develope or download new skins (like opera does) in the future ?

I don't think that skins are planned like in Firefox or Opera.
But new icon sets will be available, see Galaxy icon set on OOONinja.

They are also available in the Public 3.0 Beta version.

I also like having a nice design of the user interface. But I would not rate it as that important. Concerning the comparison to MS Office, I think functionality and ease of use are the more important factors.
