* is there a way in Impress to disable auto appear/hide of the "Text Formatting" toolbar?

when editing a slide, every time you need to edit some text and click on the text, this toolbar appears and pushes the whole window content down; and when you click outside, the whole thing goes up again. I feel as if someone keeps on stepping on my head. A *smart feature* that's unbearably annoying.

* is there a button to quickly increase/decrease the font size?

the dropdown for selecting size requires too many clicks, specially if you want to reduce the size. since the current size appears at the top of the list, you need to scroll the list before selecting a smaller size.. takes about 4-5 clicks; would have been easier if the current size was centered in the list.

ok found a way around the first problem: make the toolbar float; no more going up and down!
