In a document, I divided some paragraphs with ----. OOo converted that automaticaly to a full horizontal line.
Now, I want to remove those lines, but I can't find how?

I routinely remove all automatic formatting, so I can't say for sure what you've got. I see two possibilities:

Most likely the ---- has been converted to a "horizontal ruler". That ruler is "ancored" at the end of the preceding paragraph. Go to the end of the paragraph (last line, press the End key), then press delete. Alternatively, you should be able to set the edit cursor on the line with the ruler. Press backspace to remove.

Quite possibly the ---- has caused the setting of a paragraph border. See Format - Paragraph..., the Borders tab.

It is normally a bottom border of the preceding paragraph.

To avoid this behavior in the future do Tools > AutoCorrect > Options tab and turn off Apply Border. Or to cancel the border immediately after it is applied do Ctrl+Z or click to Undo icon.

Click in the paragraph above the line you want to erase.

Go to FORMAT and PARAGRAPH

Go to the BORDERS tab

Even though the "No Borders" box is probably highlighted (left hand side of borders window), click on it again. This will eliminate that line.

Great tip Independent. Works perfectly.

John V, only problem with the AutoCorrect option is that you can't make lines once you uncheck the option.

I do think one should be able to simply backspace or Delete to remove the line.

Of course you can. Use independentpower's tip slightly modified:
Instead of clicking the "no borders" icon, click in the "user defined" pane to toggle borders at any side of the paragraph.
Another way to insert a horizontal line is Insert - Horizontal ruler..., but that looks different, so it may not be what you want (more space around it).

With the horizontal ruler you can.
With paragraph borders, the quickest way to remove the line is by setting default formatting (which will revert the selected piece of text to settings defined in applied styles).
You'll find that in the Format menu, or by pressing ctrl+shift+space or ctrl+M (depending on OOo version).

Well Kemel, guess there's just no end to the choices. I like the Horizontal Ruler option / Plain, except that it's a double line. But I found a way to modify it.
1.Choose Format - Styles and Formatting to open the Styles and Formatting window.
2.In the listbox at the bottom, select to display "All Styles".
3.Right-click the "Horizontal Line" paragraph style.
4.Choose Modify.
For example, open the Borders tab page to set the thickness and style of the lines. Open the Indents & Spacing tab page to set the indents of the line.

Then did a 'customize toolbar' to add a direct link on my toolbar.

Thxs, eh. Very Happy

I've tried the suggested fixes listed here:
- changing the formatting from textbox to default
- removing borders from borders tab of the paragraph box
- using the delete key.

There are still grey horizontal lines throughout my document. The problem arose from some text that I pasted from facebook.

Here's a sample of the problem I'm struggling with:

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

They're probably section boundaries which are like text boundaries which don't appear when the document is printed.
