open office base - not able to edit data in query view

i am using OOo 2.4 both in winxp and xubuntu...

create a table and a query... wanna edit data in query view so that i can deal with only the selected record..

don't know why... but the "edit data' icon is always grayed out...

anyhow i managed to make the 'edit data' icon enabled and hence was ONCE able to edit the selected record.... so it would work in some way... but i forgot the steps..

any idea?! Crying or Very sad
