file-export - put picture invisible

(OpenOffice 2.0.2 presentation)
I am trying to "file-export" parts of Impress slides
(including inserted picture files, which are .eps files)
into a latex document as .eps files.
The slides have inserted picture files - .eps or .gif.
This worked fine until today!
But now, the picture area of an export is invisible in the document
(in the .dvi, .ps, and .pdf)
though the graphics info/script is there in the .eps file.
The only part that shows is any text that was part of the slide.
I tried every option I could think of: level 1, level 2, color, greyscale,
exporting the whole slide instead of just a part - also saving the slides
from .ski and .odp (whats the difference?)
