Mac 10.4.11, OOo3.0rc3PPC Aqua Writer seizing w/ default doc

When I save a template and make it the default for OOo3rc3PPC Aqua Writer, then alter the default and re-save it, Writer seizes repeatably. The exact timing and conditions of the seizure vary. Sometimes it gives a message that '/<path to templates>/Default.ott does not exist' except the doc is indeed there. Other times crashes happens when adding entries to AutoText. As a consequence soffice.bin will usually seize and have to be force quit.

I've tried deleting and recreating the default doc, but same problem occurs if it is later altered and resaved.

I will be happy to report this to Issue Tracker, but I wanted to check if anyone else had this problem and solved it. I did a cursory search of the Writer forum and Issue Tracker, but didn't see this issue. Any assistance will be appreciated. TIA
