Annoying problem of writer

I am not a native english speaker.I use translation program frequenty.

This program ,called Dr.Eyes,could 'catch' the word in the editor window and show the meaning of it in a small yellow panel as flowing.



as you see,it works fine in notepad(so do the M$ word)

but in openoffice writer it is a totally different story as shown below,the word 'openoffice' is recognised as 'ILLF".Really strange ,isn't it?



I think maybe the problem is because of the UTF-8 charset openoffice used.

If it is so ,how could I config to shift to a localized charset ,such as GB or BIG5

PS:I am using OpenOffice.Org 1.1.1 on windows XP Profesional with all patches
