|
|
Is there an incompatibility between the way OpenOffice stores mathematical formulas in .doc files, and the way MS Word does it?
Here's two documents with the same formula, one created with OpenOffice, one with Word:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/5fvi8w
(formula should look like this)
When I open the one from OpenOffice in Word, I see a partially incorrect formula, and I can't edit it (when I doubleclick it, I get an error: "the server application, source file, or item cannot be found").
When I open the one from Word in OpenOffice, I see the correct formula, but when I edit it I get some 3rd party formula editting tool (MathType).
Is there any way to get the formulas inter-exchangable between Word and OpenOffice, and is there a reason why the formula looks *partially* wrong? (it shows some parts correct, so it's not simply completely unable to render the formula).
Thanks a lot in advance! |

Hmm, thanks, these options were disabled. Enabled them, not perfect yet, but it does seem to do something: when I now save the .doc from OpenOffice and open it in Word, I still see the wrong formula, but when I double click it, the formula editor pops up, the formula becomes correct, and I can edit it in Word!
Any chance of having the formulas showing up correctly in Word automatically? (in a document with lots of formulas, it's not convenient if I have to double click them all first before they look all right).
Other way around works just fine: in OpenOffice, I can now edit the formula in the .doc that was created with Word! |
