| No, I do not think there is an AbiWord filter avaiable at this time. You will have to export AbiWord documents to MS Word format and then open them in Writer. |

Please.. don't use the MS format !
Abiword can export in sxw format. (if it's not included in your abiword, check for the plugin at www.abisource.org ) |

I just installed the file import/ export plugins for AbiWord but could not save in Writer format. I never got the option to save as Writer! Open worked though.
Avoid using the RTF format. OOo supports only an older RTF standard, in fact the developer of the RTF support in AbiWord was stunned when his requests for OOo support for the newest RTF support was rejected.
(Oh, the export from AbiWord should work fine though, but exporting from OOo ) _________________ BR Curtz

Ummm...The only reference to opening abw files is in a thread from 2003? And there has been zero progress since then??

The simplest wat just convert it -
In AbiWord you can save the document as .odl OpenDocument - then its solwed.
easy.
So now we dont need the ms word .doc or the outdated .rtf
Now Im happy. _________________ SDF |

Anyone happens to know whether there is in development or if it exists at all an Abiword files IMPORT filter for OOo ?
I thought of asking again since this thread is quite old and there might be any update. |

The answer - "just use AbiWord to export it in a format that OOo supports" - just doesn't cut it. I got sent an ABW file to print, and I didn't have AbiWord installed. Not everyone is able to install the necessary software on their machine.
I doubt this is a common problem, I doubt there are enough people interested, and I doubt I'll ever encounter this problem again... but it sounds like writing a filter might be a way to get into contributing to OOo. |

Does anyone ever use the option of a ".prn" file if printing is the only requirement? [Windows]
Peter Lerup wrote a great little drag and drop GUI program for printing without using the DOS line command for those averse to such things [as I am even though familiar with them.]
