|
|
first of all sorry about my english (I'm Italian).
I have an .odt file that i can't open. I worked on it several times and I saved it on an hard disk and everything was ok. Now i tried to open it after 3 months and I couldn't.
I tried with open office and a list of filters came out....and when i chose the filter it says ERRORE GENERALE ERRORE GENERALE DI I/O - (general error - general i/o error).
I tried with word but nothing happened
I tried to follow some advice I found in here (rename the file with .zip ............)but....probably I'm not good enough to solve this problem
so
PLEASE if anyone can help me i'd be so grateful!!!
I can send the file if you want!!
Thank you in advance

You can change the extension to .zip, then open it in program like Winzip, extract the content.xml file. You can then at least recover your text. You can also upload it to a website like www.mediafire.com, then somebody here may be able to open and restore it to something readable for you, btw I'm not Italian, so I won't be able to read it anyway.
What happened in those months - did you change OS, or install a newer version of OOo? _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

first of all thank you for the answer...
i already tried to change it to .zip but...it didn't work (or probably i didn't do the right things to do!!)...i tried to rename it but the type of file didn't change ...so i couldn't open it with winzip!!
after several tries I made it (I don't know how!!!!!)...but if i try to extract the "content.xml" file it appears an error: "error in file #1: bad zip file offset (error local header signature not found): disk #1 offset:643"
so...probably i did something wrong!
my only aim is to recover the text...nothing more nothing less!!!
I will follow your advise and upload it in mediafire
...so...maybe....somebody will be alble to do this change to .zip .... or ..... help me n other ways
in those months....surely my husband downloaded the latest version of OOo
...but also my husband doesn't know how to open it!!
thank you very very much for your help....
I will upload the file in a few minutes! |

I could download it from the first link, but the zip file is broken. I can't extract the content.xml file, so your work is probably lost. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

I googled "repair corrupt zip file" and that gave quite a few hits for repair tools. You could give one of them a go. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista

...all the program are NOT free....and the demo apparently doesn't give you the possibility to save the repaired file....
i've found a free programm but it doesn't work...
thank you anyway |

I installed two, and neither of them even "saw" the content.xml, so maybe the corruption is very bad. I'm sorry for you. _________________ LibreOffice 3.6.3; OOo 3.4.1 on Windows Vista
