Help! Can't open filenames without spaces...=(

I have a very weird problem as of now. I want to open my powerpoint show files in my usb through the use of Open Office Impress. My problem is I can only open files that have a filename with spaces. I cannot open files having a filename without spaces. It is so frustrating. How can I solve this kind of problem? Your help is very much appreciated. Thank you.
