I have followed precisely (many, many times) the instructions in the OpenOffice help file to print labels from a database table. It works perfectly.... except that I have not been able to get more than one page of labels. Is this how it is supposed to work... selecting only enough database records to fill a single label sheet and doing that multiple times until all desired labels have been printed?

The Help is badly broken. Click Print and when prompted to print a form letter say "Yes". You will then be able to print all or selected records. See this article for a well written explanation of mail merge http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/articles/mail_merge_openoffice_org .

Great, thank you
. But not particularly intuitive. And don't forget Print | Options | Right pages only.

Also can 'print' to a file but, as the file contains links to the database, it is not possible to send it to A N Other without the database, is it?

PS is there a way of previewing one's reply with BBCode activated? I'm not that familiar with BBCcode[/i]

Yes, you can preview with BBCode active.

About BBCode.

Thank you JohnV, I have BBCode on in my profile and when I read my and others messages BBCode is interpreted. Also as I write I can see Options BBCode is ON

But when I compose a message, like now, when I preview it BBCode is not interpreted. I don't think that is a problem with BBCode (thanks for your very useful reference) but lies somewhere else.
