| I imagine this has been answered before but is there any support for saving a document as a Word 2000 document template (.dot)? I have no problems assigning Writer as the default application to open files with the .dot extension, but when I go to save, it pops up a Save As dialog and Word template is not an option. I'd hate to think I have to save as a .doc and manually edit the extension every time I save a Word template. |

This is the way I do it.
1) Save the file as MS doc. (Save as... filename.doc)
2) Rename "filename.doc" to "filename.dot" |

When you save the file, uncheck the "Automatic file name extension" box, then enter the full file name including the .dot extension.
I see idole obviously hasn't bothered to read as far as the line
