open office ms office

Can I run open office and ms office at the same time. I am trying this out and will probably get an HP mini mi if the program works as well as everyone says but I would like to try it out on my current laptop which is running MS office 2007 while removing or causing problems with it. also I will need to figure out how to access files with both programs as my work comp uses ms office

my office is a mixture of OO and Ms Office with majority having migrated to OO. What we have done is set the default save as to word 98-2007 in Tools-options-Load/ Save

Thanks I have it installed and am now working on compatibility issues ie working the same file in both apps

I run office 2003 and the latest version of open office at the same time without any issues.
