Hello,
I have problem when trying to print memo fields that exceeds 1 page. They are jus cut at the page break and the next page printing is about the next record in database. How can I control OOo to get longer memofield printed? _________________ EKa |

Hi again,
this is just to encourage folks to give hints for testing. I still have the same problen as below. But trying to solve it I have managed to generate new ones. Instead of continued printing on several pages, I get extra title on separate page and pruned body. - This is absolutely newbie problem and I know it has an elementary solution. So all suggestions are wellcome.
Anyone?

Hello
You have problems with printing great memo fields.
Try to use the possibilities of writer. Do not use a textbox. In a writer document you can insert fields and maybe they give no problems for you. I do not use them but JohnV have post several posts.

Thanks to Romke , I got a step ahead in solving my memo-reporting problem. Now I know how to drop retriewed content form database to Writer doc. Basically that is soving my key problem.
But knowing that I'm applying manually a very rustic method, i.e. dropping one record by record in to document, I'd like to learn how to automate this process. I mean, how to drop all data from Base into report made with Write.
Or, is it possible at all?

Hello
I did have post here a solution with a macro. I did erase that post. I did understand of your post that my first solution did not work. But I did try and do it without copying with hand. Do use the capabilities of writer.
Writer does have a lot possibilities.
Search good in the post of JohnV. He did wrote a lot of them.I will try to find a good post of him.
I did have search on mailmerge and author : JohnV
You can can be happy there are only six post.
It is real difficult for me to write it easy up for you there I don't use it.
I hope this help to search. Now you knew there is a easy solution

Hello
I did test some thing for you
Splitting problem
You have to split you problem in more parts
Make document
One is making a writer document. Insert in this document the fields you need.
For this go to
menu--> insert-->field--> other
Now there come a new popup with several tabpage.
Choose the tabpage with Database.
Here you see all your registerted database. Choose your database
Now you can choose a table or a query. I think choose for a query and not a table.
The query you can change easy. The table is more difficult to change.
On the same page you can choose between several types. I cannot explain the difference between all type but you have to use mail merge fields.
I did choose two fields
a) one for title and one for the memo
The title I do on top and centered.
The memo I do to the left. with a little distance from the title.
Now your document is ready. You can save it.
Printing
The next problem is how to print this file.
You have a nearly empty document.
click you want print it. Now there is a popup who ask you to print a form leter from a database. I say Yes
Select again your database and the query or table
Select what you and print
The end
I did have test it only with one record but I think it will also print more then one on more then one page.
Try to play with. I was surprice what you can do with it . One memo over 5 pages. I do make 93 files. I think it was not good to print them out.
Yesterday It was to difficult for me but now it was easy
I hope this helps you

Open new Writer document, press F4, open your database, open the Tables item and click your table.
Select all records with the gray box at their upper left.
Click the Data to Text icon and go from there. |

Hello
This will explain how to make a mailmerge.
It does use information from earlier post in this thread from me and from JohnV.
I hope it is more clear
You can insert fields from your database on several way.
1) table Insert as table
2) Fields insert as fields This is use ful for mailmerge
3) text insert as text.
For a mailmerge with fields
a) Select the datasource you need
b) Select the table or query you need
c) Select a record and drag it to your tekst document. Point on the gray surface just next to your table. Where the record pointer is.
e) Now in the popup select in what way you want have your fields and which fields you want have. You can select one field or more
f) if you select colums then the column will be inserted in the way you choose in e
g) Now your document is ready and you start printing read in an earlier post for printing.
I hope this helps you
