=NOW() function not working...

when i use =NOW() the date doesnt show up on in cell. the only thing that shows up is ###. does anyone know what i am doing wrong?

Increase the horizontal size of the cell. ### means the cell can't display the number in it.

You mention needing the date. If that's all you need, using the TODAY() function may be better (for matching date when searching/comparing). If you need to mark time of day too, continue using NOW().
