OpenOffice BASE

I have read different answers on the net to produce a third field from two data inputs.

I wonder if someone would be kind enough to show me simplest official way to do the calculation on selected rows in the data base.

Here for example , two fields producing a third field for a car petrol expense sheet :-

€_litre , Litres , price
1.1, 30 , 33
0.9, 52, 46. 8
1.03,T 45, 46,35
total week 126.15

Q1. How do I calculate the price field?
Q2. How do I get the selected fields total?

Thanking you in advance

Fred

Fred,

Typically, it is not good form to store calculated fields in a database. Store the date, €_litre and litres in the database. Then, use queries and reports to produce the data you want.
