Base 101 question

Please bear with me, because I know essentially nothing about databases.

I'd like to keep track of baseball standings and runs scored.

In my case, there will be 8 teams and a total of about 1,000 games. I would like to input the game scores, for example, something like:

Detroit 3 Chicago 3

and have the app output:

1. for each team, games won and lost
2. for each team, runs for an against.

Is this relatively easy to do with Base?
