|
|
Hi, I don't know how, but a few days ago I did not have problems inserting pagenumbers in my documents, while I think it was no problem because MS word allready did. Well, now I deïnstalled this program and, while making a new document I want to insert pagenumbers.
My problem is: HOW??
I can't solve my problem with the help-files or with the other topics here on the forum. Is there a script or a hidden way to do this? I saw a script on the forum but just copy-pasting this code into a new script did not work properly.
Thanks in advance |

Yeah, I tried that one before. But it just inserts a pagenumber in de text itself, not really usefull. I need pagenumbers at the place where they belong: at the bottom of the page. The insert-> pagenumber-function inserts it at the place the cursos is in de text. Pretty unusefull to me |

Hi Uchy,
You need to put the page number into your page footer.
- Press F11 for the stylist
- Select 4th Icon from left "Page Styles" at the top of the Stylist.
- Right-click on your current page style and select Modify
- Click on the Footer tab
- Select Footer on and click on OK
- Scroll to the bottom of your page where you will now see the text "border" for your footer, click inside this.
- Now choose: Insert > Fields > Page Number and/or any other fields you want
Does that help  _________________ James

| And Insert > Footer > your current page style, will also work as a shortcut for the above method of turning on a footer. |

Yes, I just always try to introduce people to the Stylist, to get used to it _________________ James

Yeah, I tried that, but you know what it displays on my screen?
'pagenumber' instead of the actual number of the page... he just inserts the word 'pagenumber'. Really weird. Where did I go wrong?! |

Uchy,
Hold down Ctrl and press F9.
This toggles the Field Name with the content of the field (i.e. the page number).

Ahhaaa, thanks, that's helpful. I only wonder why that isn't clear in the program itself...
Works not as clever as it does in MS Word, but something's got to give eey (is that clear english? hmm (I am dutch-speaking))
And maybe it is more usable than words system, because here is a system one can use very obvious for not inserting numbers on some pages. But to do this on a whole big document for 100 pages...
Thanks anyway! |

| Oh, I see it does work for every page... I mean, that it automatically inserts the number on the next page... now to find out how to not onsert it on the first page... But I thougt there was a topic about that |

Nice huh, posting in my own thread...
I doscovered the use of different page styles. So, that's pretty oké. Like for the first page 'First page' and for the rest 'standard' |

Well, what I do is:
1) insert --> footer
2) insert --> field --> page number
I choose the alignment that I want (left -centre-right) and I have the page numbers at the bottom.
Obviously, we can have the page numbers at the top of the page, by inserting a header, instead of a footer, and then inserting field --> page number.
Hope I helped! |

If you just want to right-align page numbers in the footer, then just click the right-align button in the formatting toolbar (as with any text). Alternatively use the Footer right style in the Stylist and tab across to it (as suggested above).
If you're asking how to put the page numbers on the right side of pages, instead of in the footer, then you could create a frame, anchored in the header or footer, and position this anywhere on the page. Put the page numbers inside the frame.
