ooo Bean is not visible

Hi.

I'm trying to use the ooo bean to create a flashcard program. I'm also a bit of a java noob.

My problem is that I can't see the bean in the designer or when I run the program. The designer shows an empty rectange. When I right click the empty rectange and view its properties, several of the properties report "error getting property value".

In code, I have been able to load a document into the bean without getting any exceptions; however, there is no evidence of the openoffice on my screen.

Here are some specifics:

Product Version: NetBeans IDE 6.8 (Build 200912041610)
Java: 1.6.0_17; Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM 14.3-b01
System: Windows Vista version 6.0 running on x86; Cp1252; en_US (nb)
OpenOffice 3.1

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be happening?
