|
|
| I run Openoffice 3.1.1 on Linux Mint 8 and decided to try IBMs Symphony (not a good idea) and it has changed all of my Openoffice file icons to the Symphony equivalents. Removing and reinstalling both programs has had no effect, the Symphony icons remain even after complete removal of Symphony. So my question is where does Openoffice 3.1.1 hide its icons so I can reset my file associations? I hope someone knows because I cannot find them using all of the search techniques I know eg. find -iname *.ico > find.txt |

I have found the path to the Openoffice icons at
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/32x32/apps
However now I cannot change all of the file icons. Even though Symphony has been completely removed the default association to its icons remains More research to do
Any help would be greatly appreciated |

I use Linux Mint 8 and Openoffice 3.1.1 on my AMD 64 bit box as my workhorse.
I had a day off so I thought I'd have a look at IBM Symphony, (BIG MISTAKE!).
After evaluating Symphony and deciding to remove it, I find that all of my *.odt *.ods etc. files have the icons that Symphony installed.
I have tried to reset the icons to the OOO defaults without success. I have tried complete removal and reinstalation of OOO. Now OOO even saves new files with the Symphony icons, even after reinstallation. I created a new user to test as well and the icons remain unchanged.
I have used the File Types Editor (assogiate) without success, both as su and normal user on both the System and User databases.
The Symphony icons remain
While assogiate will set the icon path to the correct icon it does not apply that setting to the files and the files remain with the incorrect icons. I have used the "vnd.oasis.opendocument.text" name in the database for the Writer files by way of example and set the default icon to the path to the icon at
/usr/share/icons/hicolor/32x32/apps/ooo-writer.png
If anyone has any idea on another method or solution I'd be very greatful as I have spent more time on this problem than I'd like to admit
Thanks |
