Need help please.
I am trying to covert the dates in this column A into separate columns so I can analyse & order my data in the spreadsheet by year.
I selected Data - Text to Columns – Separate by Tab & Space
In Display box it looks correct – click O.K but in spreadsheet it is wrong (see column B)
I have tried format - cells -Text & Date & General but I cannot get it to work correctly. I tried it without and without the last entry 'About 12 OCT 1785'.

14 MAR 1802
07 JAN 1807
14 MAR 1802
07 JAN 1807
29 SEP 1600
29 SEP 1600
17 SEP 1808
20 OCT 1816
17 JAN 1768
About 12 OCT 1785
Column A
14 MAR 6 Dec 1904
07 JAN 11/12/1904
14 MAR 06/12/1904
07 JAN 11/12/1904
29 SEP 18/05/1904
29 SEP 18/05/1904
17 SEP 12/12/1904
20 OCT 20/12/1904
17 JAN 02/11/1904
About 12 OCT 1785
What am I doing wrong and where is the 1904 date coming from??

Remove all number formatting from the resulting columns. Apply number format "General".
