Mail Merge, please developers, do a better job here!!!

Undoubtedly mail merge is the poorest area I worked with OOO Basic.

With a master document of 2 pages and a database of "only" 2000 entrys, with output to file.

1) OOO frezzer and crash if I try to run the 2000 entrys in one time;
Solution: shoud run manually 200, 200, 200, till complete the 2000.

2) Even so, the OOO sometimes crashs;

3) Very poor slow performance, around 30 / 40 min to generate 200 letters, no matter in a Pentium 4 2Gb or a Core 2 Duo 4gb.

4) A bit complex to create a Base .ODB data base as bridge from the sheet to the data base, why not accept directly the .ODS sheet as a database?????

5) What about include a option to automatic split files by maximum number of registers?
