Is it possible to password protect OpenOffice text, spreadsheet, databases, etc., files from withing OpenOffice (similar to the file password protection in MS Office)?
Thanks. |

Yes
take a look at the 'save as' dialogue box - you should see a tick box 'save with password' - I guess that would do the trick though I have never used it myself. _________________ Kubuntu 11.10 LibreOffice3.4.4 |

I've not used this facility and don't know whether it is weak password protection in odt format, but I've quite often needed to check inside a Word doc password protected file and use OOo as this bypasses MS Word protection. Similarly xls files.
If you really need to protect the file, some other means is probably better. |
