I am having problems getting the newest version of Open Office to install. I get the following message: "Please exit Open Office org3.2and the Open Office .org 3.2 Quickstarter before you continue. If you are using a multi-user system also make sure that no other user has OpenOffice.org 3.2 open."

I can't figure out why this message appears. I have looked under Task Manager and can't see where Open Office is open. I don't see any program or process called Quickstart running.

I have tried to uninstall Open Office 3.1 and I get a similar message saying that I need to close it down, but it is not even open.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Try this utility http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 . Download, install and run. point it at the old OOo install.

Thanks for this! I accessed processes by pressing CRTL-ALT-DEL and selecting Task Manager... after closing out all the "soffice" processes, I was able to install the new version of Openoffice.

I use Openoffice every minute of my life and was shocked that I when I selected to download the update to Openoffice 3.3 and it did not allow me, then I was not able to open the previous version either! I thought I had lost Openoffice completely! Shocked

Somebody please work on a fix for this installation problem! Thanks in advance from us non-techies who love Openoffice! Very Happy
