External data link

This maybe a stupid question from a newbie but here it goes.......

I am using the external data link to pull in stock info, the question is how (if possible) can I make the url link (ie http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-price?Symbol=appl&ocid=qbeb) variable to cell (ie stock symbol appl) in the spreadsheet? I want to be able to open my spreadsheet, type in a symbol (appl) and the external data link pull in the info.
