hi

I edit my resume in Writer but I still save it as .doc file. When exported into pdf everything looks fine but .doc file has grey table borders.

I thought it won't be displayed in MS Word as it is ok in pdf but that is not true. And because I have the table borders set to "no borders". I mean I did not change the default.

The only way I found how to have nice clean resume in .doc is to sed all borders colour to white.

Is there any better, proper, faster way how to do it?

Thank you

R.

What OS and version of OOo are you using?

What version of Word? Is it possible that the Word default is borders?

Not sure what you mean by that but I realised about the borders issue when I went to the agency and they brought printed version of my resume. The one I sent in .doc version.

Currently I do not have any Word installed. I downloaded MS Word viewer and it does the same thing. I did not find any way how to turn the borders off in the viewer. Anyway I have to present nice and print/view ready resume. I cannot expect nobody to fiddle with it.

Thank you

Definetely table borders and I'd say that page borders too. I've just tried to set page borders to white but it did nothing Question

There is one border around whole document like page border but it got row at the top and bottom of the page that I cannot select to change it's properties.

Thank you

Borders
Sets the border options for the selected objects in Writer or Calc.
You can specify the border position, size, and style in Writer or Calc. In OpenOffice.org Writer, you can add borders to pages, frames, graphics, tables, paragraphs, and to embedded objects.

To access this command...
(all options only in Writer or Calc)
Choose Format - Paragraph - Borders tab
Choose Format - Picture - Borders tab
Choose Format - Frame/Object - Borders tab
Choose Format - Page - Borders tab
Choose Format - Styles and Formatting - open context menu of an entry and choose Modify/New - Borders tab
Choose Format - Page - Header - More button
Choose Format - Page - Footer - More button

To modify the border of an entire table, place the cursor in a table cell, right-click, choose Table, and then click the Borders tab. To modify the border of a table cell, select the cell, right-click, choose Table, and then click the Borders tab.

Hi Steve

thank you for that. I've been trying to play with borders of anything. Basically all borders are 'set no borders'. I did not change anything. That's why I was surprised when I found out there was an issue with MS Word. I thought that what I can see were only some kind of formatting characters.

I really do not know what I can do. I tried everything. Is there any chance I can post my file somewhere?

Thank you

hi all

please find my file in http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=fa9a2412ed5bd03836df4e8dca1419695a91c4af1306582ad8c7c6998cb4ca21

what I want is .doc file to look like pdf file. I created the pdf out of the .doc file.

I edit the .doc file only using Writer. Initially I started years ago with MS Word but it is not true any more.

Thank you for any suggestions.
